Freightliner Trucks introduced the new modern, low-entry cab-over-engine EconicSD waste collection truck at WasteExpo, in Las Vegas.

The cab & Chasis are designed in Germany at Daimler’s largest truck plant and then assembled at the Freightliner Custom Chasis Corporation in Gaffney, South Carolina. Working closely with experts in the waste collection industry like Heil Environmental and McNeilus Trucks the Freightliner EconicSD is going to be perfect for the North American waste collection industry.

The truck will be available to order in the Summer of 2018. Cab configurations for the Econic SD are high cab and low cab, and rear and side loader options.

Armed with the new Detroit DD8, the Freightliner EconicSD achieves a powerful 350 hp and 1,050 lb.-ft. torque. It comes standard with active brake assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and a tight wheel base for maneuverability.

The Freightliner EconicSD has safety of the driver and crew but pedestrians and drivers of other vehicles as well. The panoramic windshield and low seating position increase visibility, while the mirror system offers an massive field of vision.
